Customizing your chat widget

If you would like to customize your chat widget, simply go to the Channels section in your chat admin panel.

First, decide whether you would like to edit the Widget, Sidebar or Chat on site.

Widget:

Select the theme of your chat widget.

Be advised that all accounts created after the 14th of June 2018 no longer have an option to choose our old themes.
All support for the Modern and Business theme is discontinued and all further updates will impact only the New Theme, so we strongly recommend switching to it if you’ve created your account prior to its release!

Next, you can edit the ‘Widget Settings‘ section to customize what the chat button will look like on your site. A chat preview will be available on the right, so that you can see the changes in real-time.

New widget:

The ‘Display‘ option allows you to decide whether your chat will appear on desktops, mobile devices, or both.

In the following section, you can add a pre-chat survey for your visitors to complete before starting a chat. You can ask for email address, name and/or phone number. You can add a GDPR consent too!

Set up your chat to appear as a sidebar on the left or right side of your website. Once a user clicks on the sidebar, the chat widget will appear.

New Widget users can switch the color of the sidebar here, while the color of the chat button at the bottom of it can be adjusted separately under the Channels.

Chat on site:

You can also link your chat to a button on your page and have it appear in a new window when clicked by a user. Under ‘Integration,’ a Chat on site URL is available at the bottom – you can use that for link buttons on your website.

There are some additional options available for our New Theme as well, so if you have it enabled you will be able to see a different view of the Chat on Site menu:
