How to Set the Profile Picture

In this article, we will show you how to set or change your profile picture that is visible in the Tidio chat widget installed on your website.

What is the Profile Picture exactly

In the Tidio widget, we differentiate between two kinds of pictures:

  • The global view – when there’s no operator assigned to the chat yet
  • operator’s picture – when an operator joins the conversation

The global view is the first one your visitors will see when they enter your website, it will show all available operators:

If the visitor starts a chat by sending a message – the widget will move the operators’ avatars to the header. You will be able to see a view of the first 4 operators’ pictures that you have added to the chat admin panel.

Then, the widget will switch the global view to the picture of the person that picked up the chat in the chat admin panel, showing it in the header of the chat. You will be also able to see the name of the agent.

Each operator can change the name and avatar individually by clicking on the current picture in the upper right corner of the chat admin panel. That will open a sidebar with the Profile settings option:

We recommend uploading the avatar in a JPG format with square dimensions (the most optimal resolution is 500x500pix).

NOTE: Be advised that all accounts created after the 14th of June 2018 no longer have an option to choose our old themes.


All support for the Modern and Business theme is discontinued and all further updates will impact only the New Theme. This is why we strongly recommend switching to it if you’ve created your account prior to its release!

The Modern Theme and Business theme also use a ‘Global avatar’, which will show up before the conversation starts (so when there’s no operator message yet).

You can upload the global picture in the Channels > Live Chat > Appearance section, under the colour settings. We recommend uploading the company logo there:
